The Air Fan, No-Blade Fan, works differently from conventional fans. They are applying air multiplying technology to draw in air and amplify it (from 15 to 18 times), depending on the model. With no blades or grilles, they’re safe and easy to clean. And they produce an uninterrupted stream of smooth air with no unpleasant buffeting.
It consists of a "loop" which sits on the end of a cylinder. It replaces the traditional oscillating blades which are traditionally found in dryers and vacuum cleaners. It can also be used in servers and storage systems.
The Air Fan pumps out 450 litres of cool air every second and because of the fans design structure, the device which has a low centre of gravity does not topple over claims.
People had long been disappointed by conventional fans, which relied on technology that had hardly changed since 1880. The spinning blades chop up the airflow, causing annoying buffeting. They're hard to clean. And children always want to poke their fingers through the grille. So the new type of fan that doesn't use blades."
The Air Fan is made from a tough thermoplastic which is used to make car bumpers, crash helmets and modern golf club heads because of its shock-absorbing qualities.
The no-blade fan works by forcing a jet of air out of a narrow circular slit and then over an aerofoil-shaped blade, is at least as efficient as its bladed counterpart, more comfortable and much safer.
Conventional electric fans have gone largely unchanged for years. The fundamental problem has remained the same for more than 125 years - the blades ‘chop' the air creating an uneven airflow and unpleasant buffeting.
